If they are not licensed in the State that you reside in and are trying to collect chances are that they will go away if you don't answer them. Always remember to keep in mind that you should always send them a Debt Validation letter.

If they are in another State they cannot collect in your State if they are not licensed to do so. They can however, hire an attorney or another collection agency to collect for them in the State they need collecting. That's why it is imperative to send a debt validation letter to the company.
